- Customize your personal donation page with photos and personalized text. It is your opportunity to explain why the Walk for Children is important to you.
- Create a fundraising badge through sixdegrees.org and add it to your walk page so people can donate to your fundraising efforts. If you do not want to create your own badge then feel free to use the one PCANY has created. If you don't want to use a badge at all, you can simply link to PCANY’s sponsor page and ask people to use the form to sponsor you. Here's more information about creating a badge:
- To create a badge go to www.sixdegrees.org and under Take Action click create a charity badge. You will have to sign up but it only takes two minutes.
- Once you are signed up you will need to type up to 250 characters explaining what the cause means to you.
- You can upload a picture and/or video to be your badge, i.e. of you, your family, your children, your organization’s logo etc… anything that you would like to be the face of your fundraising efforts
- Once you have completed the badge you will have to select a charity. Search for Prevent Child Abuse New York in and select it.
- The code will be emailed to you so you can email a link to your badge, upload it to myspace, blogs, facebook, and websites
- To add the badge to your walk page, you have to use the code given to you that is for blogs and websites. Click on the TV-like icon and paste the code in the box. When you return to the main editing page, you will see a box that says custom. This is your badge but you will not be able to see it until you save/preview the page.
- Send an email of the link to your wikispace walk page and/or your walk badge to all your friends and family encouraging them to participate and support you! Also ask them to pass the link along to their friends and family.
- Finally send an email to Jennifer or a message on the walk for children wikispace and let her know that you have created a page, the name of your page, your name, and if you would like to page locked or not. If the page is locked no one, including yourself, can edit it. If you ask us to lock the page and then you find that you would like to make changes, you can always ask us to unlock it.
