The awards were created to honor organizations and individuals whose efforts towards preventing child abuse and neglect in New York State deserve special commendation. Cindy Lee, President of Prevent Child Abuse New York, and Richards Nells, Associate Commissioner of the Office of Children and Family Services, announced the award recipients at a special luncheon at the conference. The corporate award went to Time Warner Cable of New York and New Jersey, who donates more than $10 million worth of airtime to not-for-profits and continually demonstrates responsible corporate citizenship through its commitment to supporting children and enhancing communities. The Lee Gross Anthone Child Advocacy Center in Erie County received the program award.
