Frequently Asked Questions

In hopes to assist you with your planning for the conference the following are answers to frequently asked questions that have been asked over the years that this conference has been held.

What should I wear during the conference?
Dress is casual. We advise participants to dress in layers; bring a sweater with you during the workshop sessions. The temperature can fluctuate quite a bit. Staff will do our best to keep the rooms comfortable but please keep in mind it is not always in our control.

Will there be Internet access available for participants?
For participants who are staying as overnight guests at the Albany Marriott,  wireless internet has been included as part of your hotel room. (Note: if you do get billed for the internet during you stay please let one of the PCANY staff know and we can speak with a manager). Hotel guests can access the wireless internet in their rooms and in the hotel lobby. The wireless internet will not work in the area where the workshops are being held. The hotel is set up on two different wireless networks. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

For participants who are not staying overnight there is no free wireless internet. The Marriott will be providing two stations with laptops set up for internet access in the area where the conference is being held for participants to check email.

Are there meal options available for participants with dietary restrictions?
The majority of the meals provided are buffet style and include  vegetarian options. Wednesday is a sit down meal (everyone is served the same meal) and the chef  would be happy to make meals for anyone who has dietary restrictions such as vegetarian, diabetic, kosher etc. If you do you have dietary restrictions please make sure to check off the appropriate box under meals on the registration form. If you are in need of a special meal during the conference please let any of Marriott servers know and they will be happy to help you. You can also ask at the conference registration desk for assistance.

Is there transportation available to and from the hotel?
You can contact the Albany Marriott at 518-458-8444 to arrange for a pick-up or drop off, or to find out if there are planned times for a shuttle to and from the train station.

Why is there a 30 minute break in between workshop sessions?
This time is given to allow for networking, spending time at the exhibit booths and refreshment breaks. It also allows for the conference staff to get the next workshop session ready. If issues arise this gives us adequate time to find a solution without causing the participants to lose out on valuable learning time.
