Step Up to Prevent
Child Abuse at the
2011 Walk for Children

Capital Region individuals, families, businesses and organizations will step up to prevent child abuse on October 15 by taking part in the 2011 Walk for Children.

Join us for an event for the whole family, featuring children's games, activities, arts, crafts, and a walk through the park to support safe and happy childhoods for all of New York's children.

Registration and kids' activities open at 10 a.m. at Albany's Washington Park Lake House. The walk kicks off at 11 a.m., winds through the park, and ends back at the Lake House for a celebration of food and prizes. The walk is a rain or shine event.

Register now for the 2011 Walk for Children and join our mailing list to receive up-to-date information about the 2011 Walk for Children and PCANY's other events.

You can walk individually or you can organize a team of family, friends, or co-workers.

Life is busy and hectic. We understand. We've heard from plenty of people who would like to support the Walk for Children but can't make it to the event. We have a solution for you: Register as a Virtual Walker! Virtual Walkers don't attend the actual event, but can still raise money for the cause that means so much to them. Simply fill out the same registration form as the participants who will be attending and select virtual walker when asked on the form.

Every step you take and every dollar you raise helps to fund child abuse prevention programs!

How do you participate in the 2011 Walk for Children?

  1. Register. If you prefer not to register online, call 1-800-CHILDREN.
  2. Get sponsors. A great first step in getting sponsors is to create your own personal fundraising page. Our Walker Fundraising Handbook includes many terrific fundraising ideas or if you are organizing a team our Team Leader Handbook provides ideas to help you. Please call 1-800-CHILDREN if you would like some collection envelopes for your sponsorship money.
  3. Walk! Check in at the Lake House at 10 a.m. on October 15. The walk will begin at 11 a.m., rain or shine.
