Individuals, families, businesses and organizations will step up to prevent child abuse on October 31, by taking part in the 2009 Walk for Children, Long Island. The Walk will be a Halloween themed event especially designed to honor kids! We encourage you to come dressed in your costume and join us for Halloween crafts and activities.

Join us for an event for the whole family to support safe and happy childhoods for all of New York's children. The walk is a rain or shine event.

You can walk individually or you can organize a team of family, friends, or co-workers.

Every step you take and every dollar you raise helps to fund child abuse prevention programs!

How do you participate in the 2009 Walk for Children, Long Island?

1. Register. If you prefer not to register online, call 1-800-CHILDREN.
2. Get sponsors. A great first step in getting sponsors is to create your own personal fundraising page. Our Walker Fundraising Handbook includes many terrific fundraising ideas. Please contact the walk organizers if you would like some collection envelopes for your sponsorship money.
3. Walk! Check in at the Sagkitos Theatre at 9 a.m. on October 31. The walk will begin at 10 a.m., rain or shine.
