Price Chopper Pin-Up Campaign to Benefit Prevent Child Abuse New York Albany, NY—February 28, 2008—Price Chopper Supermarkets will be sponsoring a Pinwheels for Prevention Pin-up Campaign to help in the fight against child abuse. Held during the month of April—Child Abuse Prevention Month—the campaign is a demonstration of the fast-growing belief that we can prevent, not just intervene in, child abuse and neglect. “Price Chopper believes in giving back to the communities where our customers live and work,” stated Barbara L. Page, Community and Public Relations Manager of Golub Corporation, parent company of Price Chopper Supermarkets. “April is Child Abuse Prevention month, and Price Chopper will once again conduct our fund-raising pin-up program. Our customers simply ask the cashier for a $1 pinwheel pin-up. It will be scanned and a $1 will be added to the receipt. We raised over $30,000 last year and I’m hoping we can reach $50,000 this year. This is Price Chopper’s way of showing our customers that we are proud to be part of their community.” "Price Chopper's continued commitment to our work demonstrates the kind of community engagement that can help stop child abuse," said Christine Deyss, executive director of Prevent Child Abuse New York. “Many families confront significant stresses every day—job loss, financial pressures, lack of affordable child care, the pressures of raising children—so the need for prevention programs and parenting education is critical. Until every community leader and citizen recognizes the value of prevention and invests adequately in resources to support prevention activities, child abuse and neglect are sure to continue." Every dollar collected in Price Choppers’ New York stores will support Prevent Child Abuse New York’s programs. Throughout April informational bookmarks providing valuable tips about how anyone can help prevent child abuse will also be available at Price Chopper’s customer service desks. Pinwheels for Prevention is the grassroots signature campaign for Prevent Child Abuse America and its 43 state chapters. The pinwheel has come to symbolize a person’s commitment to truly preventative measures, such as home visitation services, parent education and the overall re-prioritization of our policies, programs and resources to ensure that every child is provided with a healthy, safe and nurturing home and an involved, supportive and caring community.
