| Child Abuse Prevention Month
|
Price Chopper Supermarkets is sponsoring a Pin-up Campaign to fight child abuse and neglect. Held during the month of April—Child Abuse Prevention Month—the statewide campaign is a demonstration of the fast-growing belief that we can prevent, not just intervene in, child abuse and neglect to better protect our children. "Price Chopper believes in giving back to the community where our customers live and work,” stated Barbara L. Page, Community and Public Relations Manager of Golub Corporation, parent company of Price Chopper Supermarkets. “April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and Price Chopper will once again conduct its fund-raising pin-up program. Customers simply ask for a $1 pin-up. It will be scanned and added to the receipt. Price Chopper stores raised over $33,000 last year and I'm hoping we can reach $50,000 this year. Conducting programs such as this one is Price Chopper's way to show our neighbors in New York State that we value their business and are proud to be part of their community." "In this economy families are grappling with significant stresses everyday—job loss, financial difficulties, lack of affordable childcare, the pressures of raising children, so the need for prevention and family support programs is more important now than ever," said Christine Deyss, executive director of Prevent Child Abuse New York. "Price Chopper's continued commitment to our work demonstrates the community engagement that can help stop child abuse." Every dollar collected will support Prevent Child Abuse New York’s Parent Helpline, public education, and legislative advocacy work throughout the state. Informational bookmarks providing valuable tips about how citizens can help prevent child abuse will be available at Price Chopper’s customer service desks and information tables. The campaign is co-sponsored by Fox 23 WXXA and Albany Broadcasting. |
