Advocate: Because Kids Can't Wait

 Kids Can’t Wait, PCANY’s advocacy campaign, focuses on the prevention of abuse during the earliest year of childhood, through programs such as Healthy Families New York and other evidence-based home visiting for new parents, and the NYS Children and Family Trust Fund, which supports family violence prevention programs.

Given New York's fiscal crisis, we've had to work harder than ever to maintain funding for child abuse prevention programs. Early in 2011, we successfully restored funding for Healthy Families New York, saving the program from elimination. Thousands of at-risk infants and toddlers are receiving these critical, life changing home visiting services because of our work.
As the Governor’s 2012-13 Executive Budget is being prepared and during the 2012 Legislative Session, we will continue our work to maintain and expand funding for child abuse prevention programs. Again this year, PCANY's Executive Agenda (PDF) supports state funding for home visiting and the Trust Fund.
