CAP MONTH: #GoBlue4NYKids and Pinwheels for Prevention

Each April as part of Child Abuse Prevention (CAP) Month, Prevent Child Abuse New York (PCANY) and other state chapters around the nation mobilize Pinwheels for Prevention public awareness campaigns. These campaigns promote simple actions that can make a big difference in the lives of children, strengthen families and prevent child abuse by removing and challenging barriers to healthy parenting.

We have also broadened our efforts to include the #GoBlue4NYKids social media campaign. We are hoping you will join us in #GoBlue4NYKids activities throughout the month of April, including national Go Blue Day on April 1st, where we encourage people to wear blue, take pics and post them to their social media accounts (and ours!) with the hash tag #GoBlue4NYKids. Although Go Blue Day is just one day, #GoBlue4NYKids efforts are encouraged throughout the month to accommodate your planning needs and maximize reach.

We are asking that everyone who takes part in CAP Month activities to please, once again, send us your schedule of events beforehand so that we can add them on our CAP Month calendar to be shared with all of our partners. Please click HERE to submit your events. These events may include a pinwheel garden, a press conference, or other community events.

Additionally, please send us pictures of your event and tag us in your social media posts to become a 2021 Prevention Champion. Official hashtags for this year are #GoBlue4NYKids, #GreatChildhoodsNY; and #GrowingBetterTogether.

We would also love to share any press/media from your event.

As a thank you for full participation, we will send you a 2021 Prevention Champion certificate. Please submit your digital participation form by clicking HERE. Please send links of any media coverage or event pictures directly to Wendi Brandow, Communications Coordinator.

If you wish to purchase pinwheels, you can do so at Prevent Child Abuse America’s product e-store.

Thank you for participating in this year’s campaign. We look forward to hearing from you!
