Healthy Families
New York
Training and Staff Development
In 1991-92, PCA-NY introduced the Healthy Families program to New York State, in 1995 began operating the Healthy Families New York Resource Center to support sites and the state system, and since 1999 has provided training and staff development for all sites as well as support to the state system as part of Healthy Families New York’s Central Administration. Located in Albany, PCA-NY provides training and staff development services throughout the state, at training locations in each region and at sites’ own facilities.
The project team prepares HFNY Family Support Specialists (FSS), Family Resource Specialists (FRS), Supervisors, and Program Managers for their roles in the HFNY home visiting program; develops and provides extensive advanced training and Quality Assurance (QA) support and Technical Assistance (TA) to promote effective, quality services; and works with the Central Administration team to link research and data to training and site support, to ensure best practice and responsiveness to programs’ and families’ needs.
